Rajamahendravaram: So far 13 people have lost their lives due to drinking adulterated milk in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. According to reports, 7 other people are still battling for life in hospitals in Rajamahendravaram. Giving information about this on Thursday, a Health Department official said that this case first came to light on February 22. He said that many elderly people from Chowdeshwarnagar and Swaroopnagar in Lalacheruvu area were admitted to the hospital. He was suffering from inability to urinate (anuria), vomiting, stomach pain and other serious problems.
Everyone took milk from the same place
The officer said that investigation revealed that these people had taken milk from the same place, which was suspiciously adulterated. He said that strong epidemiological evidence points to adulteration as the main cause of death. Various departments together have started action on this. During investigation, the levels of urea and serum creatinine in the blood of the patients were found to be very high, which indicates the effect of toxic substances. Preliminary investigation revealed that milk was the main source of toxic substances. This milk was being supplied to 106 families from Varalakshmi Milk Dairy located in Naraspuram village of Korukonda mandal.

After the matter came to light, the supply of milk was immediately stopped. Milk samples have been taken from the dairy and sealed. 33-year-old suspected milk seller Addala Ganeshwarrao has been taken into custody by the police. The police have registered a case in this matter and started investigation. Officials said that emergency medical camps have been set up in the area. The team of doctors and experts are working continuously and better treatment is being given to the affected people.
