Recently some producers are facing problems from CBFC. Some producers have also vented their displeasure with CBFC in recent times. Some have even registered cases. Now the CBFC has come up with an extra rule which will give more headache to the producers. But this is a useful rule and it remains to be seen how producers will accept it.
According to CBFC rules, all movies submitted for certification this Sunday (March 15) must have captions (closed captions or open captions) or subtitles and audio description. It is said that if these captions are not present, the film will not be considered for certification.
Adding CC, OC (subtitles) and audio descriptions to movies will be of great benefit to producers. Even if it doesn’t cost a huge amount, it will definitely be an additional expense. Also, dubbing time will increase as audio description will also have to be included. The assistance of a separate voice artist is required. It is all about cost.

These captions are compulsorily adopted by almost all movies in OTT format. OTTs provide captions for some movies. But Indian movies rarely include audio descriptions. But henceforth this will also become mandatory. Also, the CBFC has also made a rule regarding the size of subtitles, which has led to the displeasure of some directors.
