finger: A major fire incident was reported in Angul district of Odisha on Thursday. There was chaos in the area due to the explosion of a gas cylinder inside a tiffin shop here. This incident took place at Bantala Chowk, where a sudden explosion of an LPG cylinder kept in a small food shop has come to light. After the loud explosion in the cylinder, the shop caught fire and the fire quickly engulfed the entire complex, causing huge damage to the shops.
Fire brigade reached the spot
At the time of the incident, when people of the area saw strong flames and smoke rising from the shop, they immediately reached the spot. The fire spread so fast that within a short time the entire shop started burning and people nearby started running here and there in fear and panic. Local people tried to control the situation and immediately informed the fire brigade and police.
As soon as the information was received, local fire department employees reached the spot and started the operation to extinguish the fire. Two fire engines were deployed to control the fire. The fire brigade team made continuous efforts to stop the fire from spreading, so that other nearby shops were not damaged. However, the intensity of the fire was very high and it took a long time to control it.
It is being told that this huge fire kept burning for more than two hours. During this period, there was an atmosphere of great panic in the area. There was no immediate news of any casualty during the incident, due to which people heaved a sigh of relief.
According to the information, more than 10 different shops are said to have been gutted in the cylinder explosion and subsequent fire. Traders have suffered huge financial losses due to the fire.
Police and fire department teams are taking stock of the situation on the spot and the damage caused by the fire is being assessed. Besides, the reasons for the incident are also being investigated as to how the cylinder explosion occurred and whether the safety standards were being followed or not.
