What is the news?
The government has taken a big step to deal with the deepening LPG crisis in the country due to the Iran war. Now those with piped natural gas (PNG) connection will not get LPG gas cylinders. Besides, such people will also have to surrender their LPG cylinders. The Petroleum Ministry has made major changes in the rules in view of the crisis. At the same time, the government has resumed the supply of commercial gas cylinders every 5 days.
These rules changed for PNG connection people
According to the new rules, now both PNG and LPG connections cannot be kept in the same house. Those who have PNG connections will no longer be able to book their LPG cylinders. Such people will also have to surrender their domestic LPG connections immediately. PNG consumers will also not be able to apply for new domestic LPG connections. The government believes that this is causing the problem of inequality in gas supply and unnecessary dual use of resources.
Permission to use alternative fuel in Delhi-NCR
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has allowed the use of biomass and alternative fuels at industrial and domestic level in Delhi-NCR for one month. This will provide clean fuel options to industries, which can reduce problems like stubble burning. The Petroleum Ministry said that uninterrupted supply of domestic LPG is the top priority of the government, so that the general public does not face shortage of cooking fuel.
