Tamil Nadu: A case of explosion in a cylinder is coming to light in Navallur area of the capital Chennai. Here, two children have died due to a cylinder explosion, while seven other people have been injured. According to the information, the explosion was so strong that three houses here were partially damaged. Hearing the sound, the local people reached the spot and informed the police as well as the fire department about the blast. Police say that the injured have been admitted to the hospital. The matter is being investigated. Initial investigation appears to have caused an explosion in the cylinder.
Three houses collapsed due to the explosion
Actually, a suspicious LPG cylinder exploded today in Navallur area near Chennai. Two children died in this accident, while seven others sustained burn injuries. The incident took place around 7:40 am in 3rd Street, Chamundeeswarar Nagar in Navallur area of Chennai South. Here many houses were adjacent to each other. Hearing the loud explosion, residents of the area reached the spot and were stunned to see that all three houses had partially collapsed due to the explosion. In this incident, Sanjay Kumar and Sonia’s one and a half year old children Dheeran and four year old Kritika died on the spot.
Injured admitted to hospital
Local people saw that many people were buried under the debris. He immediately informed the police and fire department about the blast. Thazhambur police station personnel and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and conducted rescue operations. According to the information, Pradeep (7), Selvi (40), Vairamuthu (45), Sanjeev Kumar (27), Sonia (25), Murugan (45) and Chitra (55) were rescued in serious burn condition. He has been admitted to nearby government and private hospitals for treatment. Police have started investigating the incident and initial reports suggest that the blast may have been caused by a gas cylinder burst. Further investigation is ongoing.
