Thalapathy Vijay’s movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ got into politics and has not been released yet. It was supposed to be released on January 09. But the movie CBFC followed a policy of delay in giving the certificate to the movie. For this reason, KVN, the production company of the movie, moved the court. But the trial there was delayed and the release of the movie was further delayed. But the producer withdrew the case and proceeded to get the certificate from CBFC itself. But again there was a deliberate (?) delay. Now the release of the movie is getting delayed again. By that, Vijay’s political opponents have gained the upper hand. His purpose was fulfilled.
Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu have been announced today (March 15) and the movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ hero Dalpathi Vijay will also contest the elections, the release of the movie is almost impossible as the model election code of conduct is in force across the state from today. According to the code of conduct, films which promote in favor of an election party, influence voters to vote for a particular party and criticize other political parties cannot be screened. So the release of the movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ will be further delayed.
Even though the movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ is a remake of the Telugu movie ‘Bhagwant Kesari’, there are scenes criticizing some political parties in the movie. Also, there seem to be some conversations about Vijay’s party that could be promotional. For this reason CBFC hesitated to give the certificate to the movie. Now that the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect, even if the CBFC gives the certificate, the release of the movie is impossible.

Tamil Nadu assembly election is scheduled for April 23, 2026. Voting will be held in a single phase and the result will be out on May 4. As the Model Election Code of Conduct (MCC) is in force throughout the state during this period, it is said that the movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ can be released after the results i.e. in May itself.
Vijay’s political opponents managed to block the release of ‘Jana Nayagan’ before the elections, giving Vijay a major political blow. Now Vijay has formed a political party named Tamilaga Vetri Kalagam and it seems that his candidates are going to be fielded from all the constituencies of the state. It is said that Vijay himself will contest the election from two constituencies.
