Nagpur: A case of misbehavior has come to light in a moving train with the women’s karate team of Nagpur University going to Balasore, Odisha to participate in the national competition. After this incident, serious questions have started being raised regarding the security arrangements of girl students.
What is the whole matter?
According to the information received, 10 to 12 women karate team members of Nagpur University left for Odisha on Saturday morning at 11 am by Puri Ahmedabad Express. The team was accompanied by a female and a male instructor. After reaching Bhubaneswar railway station on Sunday, the team boarded train number 12704 Falaknuma Express to go to Balasore, during which a group of mischievous youth in the train started misbehaving with the students.
The girl students were sitting on different berths in the coach, some unruly boys had also boarded the same coach. Considering the women players as outsiders, the youth present in the crowd started abusing them and started touching them. The women players tried to convince him but he was not agreeing.
It is alleged that the youth made obscene remarks and harassed her. At that time both the instructors were sitting on different berths, while the girl students were sitting in different compartments of the train, due to which they could not get immediate help. Frightened by the incident, some girl students called their family members and gave complete information and also made a video of the incident and sent it to the family members.
Scared by the incident, the distraught girl students narrated their ordeal crying in the train itself. Even after the family members called the Railway Protection Force and informed them, no immediate action was taken, which further increased the anxiety in the family. However, later at the next station, the Railway Protection Force personnel detained them and took them down from the train. According to the information received, a complaint was lodged against the accused at the Government Railway Police Station of Bhadrak Railway Station.
