Harish Rana, a 32-year-old youth who was in a permanent coma for the last 13 years, has been allowed passive euthanasia by the Supreme Court, following which he was transferred from Ghaziabad to Delhi’s AIIMS on Saturday. Now under the supervision of doctors, his life saving equipment will be gradually removed, so that he can be free from the suffering he has been suffering for a long time and can leave his body.

Who is Harish Rana?

Harish Rana has been bedridden for the last 13 years. According to doctors, there is no chance of his recovery. The Supreme Court has given its verdict on his euthanasia petition based on the medical report of AIIMS.

According to media reports, 13 years ago, when Harin Rana was studying in Chandigarh, an accident happened to him. He had fallen from the hostel building, following which he suffered serious injuries. After this he went into coma. He has been suffering for 13 years and his family is engaged in his care.

When the doctors made it clear that Harish could not be cured, his family sought euthanasia in the Supreme Court. After the decision on this, now their life saving equipment will be gradually removed.
