First of all, heat some oil in a pressure cooker, then add cumin, asafoetida, finely chopped onion, finely chopped ginger and green chilli and fry. Now add finely chopped vegetables like carrots, cauliflower, peas, capsicum etc. and cook for 5 minutes. After this, add washed and soaked rice, moong dal, turmeric powder, salt and water, then cook it for 2 whistles. After this, serve hot khichdi.
