Second list of AIUDF candidates released for Assam elections

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has released the second list of its candidates for the Assam Assembly elections 2026. AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal will contest from Binnakandi seat. The names of 12 candidates are included in the second list of the party. With this, the party has so far declared the names of its candidates for 21 seats. Earlier on March 9, the first list for nine seats was released.

In the list of 12 candidates, maximum number of Muslim candidates have got tickets. In this list, four Hindu candidates have also got a chance to contest the elections. Jamsher Talukdar from Golakganj, Musukha Basumatari from Bijni, Mukut Das from Raha (SC) and Dr. Anup Das Talukdar from Ram Krishna Nagar (SC) have got tickets. Let us tell you that the elections for the 126-member Assam Assembly will be held on April 9 and the counting of votes will be done on May 4.

Will support the coalition government against BJP

Meanwhile, AIUDF MLA Rafiqul Islam said on Tuesday that his party AIUDF will support the anti-BJP alliance in Assam. He accused the previous Congress government and the current BJP-led NDA government of failing to solve the problems of the people. The MLA said, “We want an anti-BJP government and want a government in which we also have a part. He said that if our government is formed, we will solve the problems of the people in the areas of education, health and road connectivity. He further said that secular parties should win maximum seats. If an anti-BJP government is formed, we will definitely support it.
