Congress has suffered a major setback just before the Assam Assembly elections. Pradyut Bordoloi, the current MP from Nagaon, has resigned from the Congress party on Tuesday. There is talk in political circles that he may contest from Dispur seat by BJP. Due to this, he has resigned from Congress after being in the party for 30 years.
MP twice and MLA four times
Bordoloi has resigned from the party after Bhupen Borah from Congress. Pradyut Bordoloi, who has been a two-time MP, four-time MLA and several times former minister in the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress in the state, has ended his nearly 30-year-long association with the Congress.
Sent my resignation to Gogoi
In his letter to Assam party president Gaurav Gogoi, he wrote, ‘Today with extreme sadness, I tender my resignation from all posts, privileges and primary membership of the Congress.’
CM Sarma gave open offer
According to sources, his resignation comes soon after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended an open invitation to him to join the BJP. Chief Minister Sarma said that if he joins the BJP, he will be given the same respect as was given to former Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah.
Voting in Assam is on 9th April
Let us tell you that the Election Commission has announced the dates of Assam Assembly elections. Voting will be held on all 126 seats of Assam in a single phase on April 9. Counting of votes will be done on May 4.
