Amid the shortage of LPG supply in the country, another Indian flagged oil tanker named ‘Jag Ladki’, carrying about 80,800 metric tonnes of crude oil, on Wednesday completed its journey from UAE and reached Mundra port in Gujarat. The special thing is that this oil tanker had left Fujairah port on Sunday morning; This came just a day after an attack on the port’s oil terminal, which briefly disrupted operations.

Government officials said that on March 14, 2026, when this oil tanker was loading crude oil at ‘single point mooring’ in Fujairah, it was attacked there. India said in a statement, “On March 14, 2026, when the Indian flagged ship ‘Jag Ladki’ was loading crude oil at the ‘single point mooring’ of Fujairah, the oil terminal of Fujairah was attacked. The ship has safely departed from Fujairah today (Sunday) at 10:30 am IST. It is carrying about 80,800 tonnes of ‘Murban’ crude. The oil is loaded and it is heading towards India.”

‘Jag Ladki’ is the third fuel tanker to reach India

The special thing is that after ‘Shivalik’ and ‘Nanda Devi’, this is the third Indian flag ship which has safely come out of the conflict affected area. These oil ships have reached India amid increased tension in West Asia. According to reports, Iran has assured safe passage of Indian ships in the Strait of Hormuz, while it has also warned of possible attacks targeting UAE port areas.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said the vital sea route would remain off limits to US and Israeli ships during the ongoing conflict.

Earlier, Shivalik and Nanda Devi had brought 92,712 metric tons of LPG to India.

Earlier, two Indian-flagged LPG carrier ships, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, together transported a total of 92,712 metric tonnes of LPG through the Strait of Hormuz. One of these ships reached Mundra on Monday, while the other ship reached India a day later. India’s second LPG carrier ‘Nanda Devi’ arrived safely at Gujarat’s Vadinar port on Tuesday after passing through the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, an official said. This ship was loaded with 46,500 metric tons of gas. The first ship, ‘Shivalik’, reached Mundra port in Gujarat on Monday.

Preparations underway to transfer LPG to small ship

Deendayal Port Authority Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh said that ‘Nanda Devi’ has anchored at Vadinar port in Devbhoomi Dwarka district, and preparations are underway to transfer the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) to a smaller ship (daughter ship). He said, “A consignment of 46,500 metric tonnes of LPG has been brought; this cargo will be transferred to a ship named ‘BW Birch’, which will later offload a part of this consignment at the ports of Ennore (Tamil Nadu) and Haldia (West Bengal) located on the east coast.”

He further added, “This transfer process happens at a speed of 1,000 tonnes per hour; hence, the entire work is expected to take two days.” Singh said that the Port Authority at Vadinar has been entrusted with the task of ensuring that all these works are carried out with full efficiency, as per the directions of the Ports Ministry.
