Kerala Assembly Election 2026: Before the assembly elections in Kerala, discord in the Congress party has come to the fore. The crisis regarding ticket distribution is deepening in Congress. Three MPs of the party are seeking assembly tickets due to which the crisis is deepening. According to sources, MP and former PCC President K Sudhakaran has given time till noon today to KC Venugopal and warned that if he is not given assurance regarding the ticket, he will call a press conference and reveal his future strategy.
Why is there controversy?
According to the information, Sudhakaran is going to hold a press conference at MP residence Godavari in New Delhi. At the same time, MPs Adoor Prakash and KT Raghavan have also demanded to be given MLA seats. Kerala Pradesh Congress President VD Satheesan has appealed to the top leadership that no sitting MP should be given a ticket. There is not a single sitting MP’s name in the 55 seats for which Congress has announced candidates on Tuesday.
Congress has so far released the list of candidates for 55 seats for the Kerala elections. The party has fielded V Satheesan, Sunny Joseph, K Muraleedharan and many other senior leaders. On Wednesday, Congress CEC will also meet at Indira Bhavan to select candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections.
When are the elections in Kerala?
The Election Commission had recently announced that elections for 140 assembly seats in Kerala will be held on April 9. The main contest in the elections is between the ruling Left Alliance (LDF) and the Congress-led UDF. The results of the elections will be declared on May 4.
