Indian citizen Kalpesh Patel in FBI’s wanted list for defrauding millions of dollars from Americans

An Indian national, Kalpeshkumar Rasikbhai Patel (35), is being sought in the US, who is accused of defrauding several victims of millions of dollars. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has shared the picture of the accused and sought information from the people. He was living in Illinois and Pennsylvania. According to the FBI, the accused is known by the names Mecca, Kenny, Kenny Patel, Kalpeshkumar R Patel and Kalpesh Patel and has worked at various places in the US.

Fraud between 2017 and 2021

The FBI issued a statement stating that the accused contacted several victims via telephone and led them to believe that their personal information or identity was linked to criminal activity. He then convinced the victims to send funds to various addresses across the United States. This amount was usually in the form of cash and prepaid debit cards. The accused committed this fraud between 2017 and 2021.

Warrant has been issued against the accused

According to US authorities, on June 22, 2023, a federal arrest warrant was issued in the District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, London, Kentucky, against Patel on charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. The FBI stated that Patel is a fugitive and any information regarding his whereabouts should be considered significant and actionable. The FBI has asked to share Patel’s information with the local FBI office, US Embassy or Consulate.
