Kerala Election 2026: Congress announced names of 37 candidates, see list

Congress has released another list of its candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections, in this list the names of a total of 37 candidates have been declared. This is the second list of Congress for the Kerala Assembly elections. Congress had released the first list on March 17 and in the first list, Congress had fixed the names of a total of 55 candidates. Including the first and second lists, Congress has so far finalized a total of 92 candidates. The most important thing is that Congress has appointed party leader K. Sudhakaran has not been given ticket. Let us tell you that Sudhakaran had demanded to contest elections from Kannur and was adamant but later he said that whatever the party decides will be accepted. Voting will be held in Kerala on April 9 and counting of votes will take place on May 4.

Congress leader K. Sudhakaran was adamant on his demand to contest elections from Kannur and had even threatened to leave the party and contest the elections as an independent if he did not get the ticket, but Congress has not given him the ticket. Congress has given ticket to T O Mohanan from Kannur and Sabrinadhan from Nemom. Let us tell you that the total number of seats in Kerala Assembly is 140. Earlier, in the 2021 assembly elections, Congress had contested a total of 93 seats and distributed the remaining seats with its allies. In that election, Congress had won 21 seats.

Who is Sudharkaran, who was adamant?

The big leader of Congress in Kerala is K Sudhakaran, whose full name is Kumbhakudi Sudhakaran, who is currently the Congress MP from Kannur. He has also previously been the President of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Apart from being a four-time MLA, he has also held the responsibility of Forest and Sports Minister in Kerala. Sudhakaran has a good hold in the Kannur region. He won from Kannur Lok Sabha seat in 2009, 2019 and again in 2024. K Sudhakaran is among the senior leaders of Congress.
