Taking a hat-trick is considered the biggest achievement for any bowler and it becomes even more special on a big stage like IPL. There have been some bowlers who have achieved this feat more than once. Let’s take a look at those players.

Amit Mishra (3 hat-tricks)

Amit Mishra is at first place in this list. He is the only bowler to take maximum 3 hat-tricks in IPL history. His first hat-trick came against Deccan Chargers (5/17) in the first edition of 2008. After this, he took his second hat-trick in 2011 against Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab). In that match he took 4 wickets while giving 9 runs. He took a hat-trick (4/19) for the third time in 2013 against Pune Warriors.

Yuvraj Singh (2 hat-tricks)

Yuvraj Singh has taken 2 hat-tricks in IPL and he took both the hat-tricks in the same edition (2009). Playing for PBKS, Yuvraj took his first hat-trick against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He dismissed Robin Uthappa, Jacques Kallis and Mark Boucher on consecutive balls. After this he took a hat-trick in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He is the only bowler to take more than one hat-trick in a season.

Yuzvendra Chahal (2 hat-tricks)

In the match against CSK in IPL 2025, Yuzvendra Chahal did not take any wicket in his first 2 overs. He did wonders in the 19th and third over of CSK’s innings. This leg spinner completed the hat-trick by taking the wickets of Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmed. He took 4 wickets while giving 32 runs in his 3 overs. Earlier, Chahal had taken a hat-trick against KKR in 2022.

Till now bowlers have taken hat-trick 23 times

So far, bowlers have taken hat-tricks in IPL 23 times. This feat was done for the first time in this tournament by Lakshmipathy Balaji. He took a hat-trick against PBKS while playing for CSK in the first edition of IPL. Makhaya Ntini became the first foreign bowler to take a hat-trick. While playing for CSK, he took a hat-trick in the first edition against KKR. Amit was the first spin bowler to take a hat-trick.
