Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has inaugurated a modern lab on Tirumala hill. This lab is part of the temple complex and will test the ghee of the prasad made in the temple. There were allegations of heavy adulteration in the ghee used in the laddu prasad of Tirupati Balaji temple. There was a huge uproar after this. Now, to avoid such a situation, this permanent solution has been found. Chief Minister Naidu inaugurated the modern water and food analysis laboratory. Primarily this laboratory will test the raw materials, including ghee, that are used in preparing Srivari Prasadam, Annaprasadam as well as the finished products.

TTD’s Water and Food Analysis Laboratory at Tirumala ensures safe water and food for the pilgrims by taking samples from various sources. During his visit to the laboratory, he inspected more than 50 modern equipment installed there. During this, Panda, Executive Director, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and Giridhar, Director, Central Food Technological Research Institute briefed them about the functioning and technical capabilities of these equipment.

Possible to test more than 1000 samples every month

The Water and Food Analysis Laboratory of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will ensure supply of safe drinking water and hygienic food to the devotees. The facility will regularly collect samples from multiple sources and thoroughly test them, including samples used in preparing Srivari Prasadam and Anna Prasadam. Officials said that this laboratory is capable of analyzing 1,000 to 1,500 samples every month.

Lab built at a cost of Rs 25 crore

In this laboratory three different departments have been integrated under one roof. Analytical, Molecular and Microbiology. This laboratory has been constructed over an area of ​​12,000 square meters at a cost of approximately ₹25 crore.
