Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said that many times we see people serving in large numbers, then we understand that there is an election nearby. Gangadhar Rao Fadnavis Memorial Diagnostic Center was started in Nagpur, named after the father of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Addressing in the same programme, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat said that here we have an imagination of the word service, service is not a favor, it is a duty to serve.

Sarsanghchalak said, “When we do service, we ourselves become pure. Because the human mind is naturally filled with many types of disorders, good and bad thoughts. Due to service, the mind becomes pure, because when a person forgets himself and does service, it is called service.”

Service is also done due to compulsion

Mohan Bhagwat said, “Many times we see a large number of people doing service, then we understand that there is an election nearby. Because of that, many people join the service, but how many of them are seen after the elections and even after winning the elections? Selfishness is also a motivation behind service, it is not that it will only benefit the people. It is not that it will be sustainable, because people leave the work when their selfishness is fulfilled. Fear is also a reason behind service. Such service also happens. Yes, service is also done due to compulsion.

This was said in 2024 also

Mohan Bhagwat had said similar thing after 20254 Lok Sabha elections also. He had said in Nagpur that “a true servant is not arrogant.” The main message of his statement was that when elections come, people serving suddenly become more visible, publicity increases, but real service should be continuous and without ostentation. They disappear once the elections are over, which is not true service.
