Jaipur: Rajasthan Intelligence has busted a big espionage network active in India and arrested a civilian employee from Air Force Station Chabua in Assam on charges of spying. This accused was sending sensitive information related to the country’s Air Force to Pakistani handlers. According to ADG (Intelligence) Prafulla Kumar, this entire case started with the arrest of Jhabra Ram, a resident of Jaisalmer, in January 2026. During interrogation and investigation, he had revealed the name of another suspect, Sumit Kumar, who was in constant touch with Pakistani intelligence agencies.
Sent sensitive information to Pakistan
Investigation revealed that 36 year old Sumit Kumar is a resident of Lahurpar in Prayagraj district of UP. He was currently working as MTS i.e. Multi Tasking Staff at Air Force Station Chabua located in Dibrugarh, Assam. Sumit Kumar misused his position and collected intelligence related to Chabua Air Force Station and sent it to Pakistani handlers through social media.
The accused was in contact with Pakistani handler since 2023
Let us tell you that Rajasthan Intelligence Team, taking joint action with the help of Air Force Intelligence, New Delhi, detained accused Sumit Kumar from Chabua and brought him to Central Interrogation Center in Jaipur. In the joint interrogation of all the intelligence agencies, it was revealed that the accused Sumit was in contact with Pakistani intelligence agencies since the year 2023. The accused was sending sensitive information to Pakistani handlers in exchange for money.
Pakistan provided information about many military bases
During interrogation of the accused, it also came to light that apart from Air Force Station Chabua, he also sent information about other military bases to Pakistan. It also includes information related to Air Force Station Nal of Bikaner. It also contained confidential information related to missile systems, officers and personnel and the location of fighter aircraft. Along with this, the accused also helped Pakistani handlers in creating social media accounts using mobile numbers issued in their names.
Big spy network exposed
It is noteworthy that accused Sumit Kumar was arrested under relevant sections of the Official Secrets Act, 1923 and BNS Act, 2023 under the case registered at the Special Police Station, Jaipur on March 22, 2026. This action has exposed a big Pakistan-backed espionage network active in India. Further investigation of the case is going on.
