The Ministry of Heavy Industries has sought approval from the Finance Ministry to continue the scheme for these categories. This expansion is expected to be limited to high-volume segments like electric two-wheelers, E-rickshaws and E-karts.

CNBC-TV18 According to the report, officials said that a part of the funds allocated for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers is left. Due to this, the government is considering extending the deadline to ensure widespread adoption and full utilization of the scheme. According to sources, the total outlay for the PM E-Drive scheme will remain unchanged at Rs 10,900 crore. The scheme was extended till March 31, 2028 for all components.
Parliamentary committee recommended
Electric buses and charging infrastructure are included under the plan, which is already valid until March 2028 and are not part of the current extension proposal. Currently, the incentives being offered for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers under this scheme are scheduled to expire on March 31, 2026. The parliamentary committee has recommended that incentives for electric two-wheelers be extended till March 31, 2028, which is in line with the deadline of the scheme.
