A horrific road accident near Raivaram in Markapuram district of Andhra Pradesh has shocked the entire area. On Thursday, there was a massive collision between a bus full of passengers and a tipper truck laden with gravel. Immediately after the collision, both the vehicles caught fire, due to which the passengers in the bus did not even get a chance to get out.
The bus turned into a ball of fire
According to information received from the police, the fire spread so fast that the passengers sitting at the rear of the bus got trapped inside. 14 people died on the spot due to suffocation and burns due to smoke and flames. About a dozen injured have been rescued with the help of local people and police and taken to the hospital, where their treatment is going on.
Some bodies may be trapped under the debris
Markapuram Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nagaraju confirmed the incident, saying, “About 14 people have been burnt alive in the accident. So far, a dozen injured have been rescued and shifted to the hospital. It is feared that some bodies may still be trapped inside the debris of the bus, efforts are being made to rescue them.”
Chief Minister expressed grief
The rescue team is currently trying to identify the deceased and contact their families. The bodies will be handed over to the relatives only after the identification is completed. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed grief over this accident.
