Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for the support and guidance provided by the Central Government for the development of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said that with the help of the Centre, the state is establishing new dimensions of development. The Chief Minister also invited the Prime Minister to visit Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister presented to the Prime Minister a replica of Shaktipeeth Maa Surkanda Devi located in Tehri district, ghee from Badri cow as well as five types of kidney beans and honey procured from different districts of the state.
The Chief Minister expressed special thanks for the assistance of Rs 500 crore for Haridwar Kumbh-2027, feasibility study by the National Water Development Agency under the river linking project, approval of Rs 100 crore for the development of Chaurasi Kutiya located in Rajaji National Park, MoU for Naini-Saini airstrip of Pithoragarh and cooperation in operating safe heli services for Chardham Yatra. The Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the approval of important infrastructure projects like undergrounding of power lines in Rishikesh, Champawat Bypass, Dehradun Ring Road and Dehradun-Mussoorie Road.
The Chief Minister said that Bel Kedar, Anjanisain-Tehri and Lohaghat-Shyamtal areas have been identified as Spiritual Economic Zones in the state. The state government has also started winter yatra, as a result of which there has been a significant increase in the number of devotees. Adi Kailash Yatra was visited by 36453 devotees in the year 2025 compared to 1761 devotees in the year 2022. Helicopter service was also started here. Similarly, to promote adventure tourism in the state, many activities including river rafting, paragliding, kayaking are being promoted. Also, to generate local employment, local products are being delivered to the national and international markets through the House of Himalayas brand under Vocal for Local. The Chief Minister also informed the Prime Minister about initiatives like “One District-One Fair”, Cluster School Scheme, Bharat Darshan and Uttarakhand Darshan Program to promote education, tourism, rural economy and self-employment.
Request to extend rapid rail to Rishikesh
The Chief Minister requested to expand the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project operating from Delhi to Meerut from Meerut to Haridwar and Rishikesh. The Chief Minister also requested to give policy support and priority for the establishment of defense equipment manufacturing units in Uttarakhand. He described the state’s strategic location, available trained human resources and developed industrial infrastructure as suitable in this direction. The Chief Minister also requested cooperation from the Center on the establishment of Defense Equipment Production Industrial Hub in Kotdwar, Haridwar and Dehradun. Along with this, he also stressed the need for development of BI-Duck Bridge in Raiwala area and expansion of Chinyalisaur airstrip located in Uttarkashi district.
Request for construction of Delhi-Haldwani Expressway
The Chief Minister also presented the proposal to the Prime Minister to start seaplane service in Tehri Lake. The Chief Minister requested for the construction of Delhi-Haldwani Expressway. He said that this project will ease the transportation to Kashipur, Rudrapur Industrial Area, Pantnagar Airport and Jim Corbett National Park in Ramnagar and there will be significant improvement in traffic and logistics for the hilly areas.
Emphasizing on the expansion of rail connectivity, the Chief Minister requested for the early inauguration of the Rishikesh to Vyasi section under the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project, construction of road-cum-rail tunnel in the Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line, survey of the Bageshwar-Karnprayag new rail line and doubling of the Haridwar-Dehradun rail line. He also proposed the construction of Rishikesh-Uttarkashi rail line to connect the strategically important Uttarkashi region with the rail network, which will make the journey to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham easier as well as strengthen the supply chain of local products.
invitation to visit uttarakhand
On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Uttarakhand and also proposed to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various projects. The proposed inauguration includes Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and Tehri Pumped Storage Plant, while the foundation stone for the expansion of Pantnagar Airport and Banbasa Land Port project is included. The Chief Minister said that the land port being developed on the India-Nepal border in the Banbasa area of Champawat district will give a new impetus to trade, traffic and regional cooperation and will strengthen international connectivity by connecting to the Asian Highway.
Gave details of the state’s specific initiatives
The Chief Minister also gave detailed information to the Prime Minister about the specific initiatives and major reforms conducted in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that with the aim of promoting tourism in the state, more than 6000 home-stays have been registered under the home-stay scheme. For the convenience of the general public, the country’s first free marketing portal named “Uttarastays” has been developed, due to which a large number of local people are joining. To increase self-reliance in the horticulture sector, he informed about setting up of a Center of Excellence for apple, cherry, plum and pear in Chaubatiya, Almora and special arrangements for training of farmers.
Gave details of the achievements of the state government
Describing the “Mukhyamantri Saur Swarozgar Yojana” as a game changer for the rural economy, the Chief Minister said that under this scheme, thousands of families have got self-employment through solar energy based projects. Incubation assistance has been provided to thousands of entrepreneurs under “Mukhyamantri Udyamshala Yojana” to promote rural entrepreneurship. Transparent delivery of the schemes is being ensured by preparing an integrated digital database of the families of the state through “Devbhoomi Parivar Yojana”. The Chief Minister said that “Agniveer Reservation Rules-2025” has been implemented to give 10 percent reservation in state services to former firefighters. Besides, through “Uttarakhand Jan Vishwas Bill-2026”, the procedures have been simplified by amending various acts and more than 500 irrelevant laws have been abolished. He informed that extensive reforms have been done in industrial, labour, mining, revenue and urban development sectors to promote ease of doing business in the state.
