Police Commissionerate Gautam Buddha Nagar has made strict security arrangements for the inauguration ceremony and public meeting of Jewar International Airport. In view of the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire area was kept under a 5-level security cordon, ensuring state-of-the-art technology, intelligence coordination and massive police force deployment. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this entire system is being operated under the leadership of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh.
Noida’s Joint CP Rajeev Narayan Mishra said that considering the sensitivity of the program, 5 security rings were created in the entire area under multi-layer security architecture. Intensive checking, baggage screening and identity verification is being done at all entry points in constant coordination with SPG. 200 door frame metal detectors were installed at more than 100 entry points, while separate checking enclosures are in place for women.
More than 5000 security personnel deployed
To strengthen the security, about 5000 officers of Uttar Pradesh Police have been deployed. Apart from this, joint deployment of PAC, RAF, ATS and CISF has been done. Additional forces have also been deployed at police posts already established in and around the airport premises. Anti-sabotage check, BDDS (Bomb Disposal Squad), anti-mine checking and sniffer dogs have been deployed at the venue. Surveillance is being maintained from the sky by anti-drone teams, while Quick Reaction Teams have been deployed at strategic locations to take immediate action on any suspicious activity.
Close watch on intelligence and social media
Real-time coordination is being established with IB and State Intelligence Units. Noida’s Joint CP Rajiv Narayan Mishra said that through social media monitoring, rumors and possible threats were kept under control, so that any situation could be dealt with immediately. A special control room has been set up for CCTV surveillance of the entire venue and airport premises. Besides, police help desks have also been set up at various places for the convenience of the general public, so that people can get quick assistance. NDRF and SDRF teams have been put on alert to deal with the emergency. Fire brigades and fire tenders remained on standby, while arrangements for medical desks, ambulances and special ambulance corridors were also ensured. Not only this, after deciding the evacuation route and assembly point in advance, a mock drill was also conducted.
Special plan for traffic diversion and parking
Detailed diversion plans with real-time traffic monitoring have been implemented to maintain traffic flow. Arrangements have been made for parking of more than 20,000 vehicles at about 15 designated parking spots. Dedicated wireless networks and encrypted communication systems are being used for better coordination between all agencies. Real-time monitoring of all systems is being done through integrated command and control dashboard. Due to its proximity to Yamuna river, special arrangements for patrolling have also been made in that area. Besides, the event area was declared a no-fly zone and the anti-drone system was kept active.
