Complaints of sexual exploitation and extortion received against Kharat
According to the report, the SIT constituted by the state government had issued 2 mobile numbers to collect information from common citizens. Since then the team is receiving an average of 15-20 calls every day. In these calls, many people have also made allegations related to sexual exploitation, extortion and possessing obscene material. This has made the matter serious. At present the investigation team is seriously investigating all the complaints.
Woman alleges repeated rape
Kharat, who runs a temple trust in Nashik’s Sinnar area, was arrested on March 18. A 35-year-old woman had accused him of repeatedly raping her over a three-year period. After the arrest, many other women have also made similar allegations. Police have registered a total of 8 FIRs so far. SIT raided his office on Friday, from where many important documents, files and a diary were recovered.
Administration suspended Kharat’s weapon license
Taking strict action, Nashik district administration has suspended Kharat’s arms license. The administration believes that due to many serious cases registered against him, there was a fear that he might use weapons to threaten the victims. Kharat had taken the license of the revolver in the year 2012, which was recently renewed in 2024. Police have already recovered weapons and bullets from them.
