The government’s efforts to end Naxalism will be discussed in the Lok Sabha on Monday. During this discussion it will become clear whether the Home Minister has been able to fulfill his promise of freeing the country from Naxalism or not. According to the agenda, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde will raise the issue of short-term discussion under Rule 193 of the Lok Sabha and initiate it. Amit Shah has on several occasions reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to root out Naxalism by March 31, 2026.

Pappa Rao surrenders in Chhattisgarh
In Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, which is part of the notorious Dandakaranya forest area and considered one of the major centers of the Naxal movement, Pappa Rao, a member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) and in-charge of the South Sub Regional Bureau, surrendered on March 17 along with 17 other Maoist cadres, IG Bastar P Sundarraj said. “For the first time in the history of the Maoist movement in Dandakaranya, the Naxalite organization has effectively become leaderless,” IG P Sundarraj said.
