There is an important pilgrimage and base camp on the way to Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district of Gaurikund Uttarakhand. A walk of about 16 km begins from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Temple. This place is also famous for Gauri Temple and hot water springs.

Road to Gaurikund by road

The journey from Dehradun to Gaurikund is about 240 kilometers. To go from Dehradun to Gaurikund, first Rishikesh, then Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Sonprayag will then come to Gaurikund. The journey by road takes about 8–10 hours, which also depends on the condition and weather of the road.

Gaurikund to Kedaranath Temple 16 km

There is a 16 km walk from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Temple. It takes 6 to 8 hours to walk. Some pilgrims also take helicopter service. The hills here are quite dangerous. People have to pass through a very inaccessible path to Kedarnath temple on foot.
