The monsoon havoc continued in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, 10 more incidents of cloudburst have come to light. Meanwhile, officials recovered two more bodies, after which the death toll in incidents related to rain and landslides increased to 10. The water of Beas river is also in spate due to continuous heavy rains in the area, due to which Mandi district is also facing floods.
Meteorological department released alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the state, which warns of extreme heavy rains, landslides and sudden floods over the next few days. The authorities have advised the residents to be vigilant and avoid traveling in sensitive areas. There are reports of cloudburst in many areas including Thunag of Mandi, Karsog’s Kutti bypass, old market of Karsog, Rikki of Karsog, Sianj of Gohar, Bassi of Gohar, Talwara of Gohar, Syathi of Dharampur and Bharna of Dharampur.
51 people died so far
Due to heavy rains, cloudburst and landslides, 282 roads in Himachal Pradesh remained closed till 10 am on Wednesday. Apart from this, 1361 electric transformers and 639 water supply schemes have been affected. The highest number of 182 roads have been reported in Mandi district. After this, 37 roads are closed in Kullu, 33 in Shimla and 12 in Sirmaur. Let us know that since the beginning of the monsoon season on June 20, 51 people have died till 1 July due to incidents like cloudburst, floods and landslides. At the same time, 103 people have been injured in such incidents. Apart from this, 22 people are still missing.
