Bangalore: A serious allegation has been heard that Infosys sold 53.5 acres of land acquired by the government at a concessional rate to a private real estate company for Rs 250 crore. The issue of this sale agreement has now caused a lot of outrage on social media.

A serious allegation has been heard that the 53.5 acre land allotted by KIADB in Anekal for the purpose of providing employment to the locals, was sold by Infosys to Puravankara Real Estate Company for Rs 250 crore instead of setting up a business. Land earmarked for industrial purpose is being analyzed for commercial gain as a clear violation of the rules.

As this news broke out, there was outrage against Infosys on social networking site ‘X’. Land acquired from farmers at a discounted price and sold for real estate profit without setting up a business has led to public outrage. Netizens have criticized this move of the organization which got the government land on the promise of employment as a betrayal.

A question has been raised whether there is a provision in the rules to sell the land given for industrial purpose to a private person. According to KIADB rules, if the business is not started within the stipulated time, the government should take back the land. But Infosys’ direct sale has raised many doubts. The public has demanded that the government should immediately intervene and take possession of the land.
