There was a stir at Sompeta railway station in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh when a youth climbed onto the roof of the Bhubaneswar-Tirupati Superfast Weekly Express. Due to this incident, not only the train had to stand still for a long time, but the life of the young man was also in danger.
The young man sat on top of the train bogie holding a stone in his hand. A 25,000 volt high-tension power line was passing just above the place where he was sitting. The slightest carelessness or movement could have resulted in his death. The passengers and railway employees present at the station were quite frightened due to the young man having a stone in his hand and his strange behaviour.
Angry passengers beat him up
When the young man was not ready to get down for a long time, an employee risked his life and climbed onto the bogie. The employee deftly approached the young man and pushed him downwards. As soon as he fell down, the angry passengers present there beat the young man fiercely. The passengers were angry at the fact that due to his action, not only the train got delayed but also the lives of many people could have been in danger. Later, some sensible passengers intervened and handed over the young man to the Railway Protection Force.
Preliminary inquiry by the Railway Police has revealed that the accused youth is originally from West Bengal. The young man has been taken into custody. When asked why he did this, he could not answer properly.
