Aamir Khan’s idea to increase the collection of Indian movies, workout?

Aamir Khan is one of the few filmmakers in Indian cinema who breathes cinema itself. Apart from making good movies, the filmmakers keep making plans one after the other about making movies more profitable. Recently, he made a new experiment by releasing the movie ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ which he acted and produced on YouTube instead of OTT. Aamir Khan, who has been against OTTs since the beginning, has now expressed his opinion about the reason why Indian movies are not making much profit. But some do not fully agree with this opinion.

In a recent interview, Aamir said, ‘There are only about 9,000 to 10,000 theaters in India. This is very less for a country with a huge population like India. There are about one lakh cinemas in China. Even in America the number of theaters is very high. In our country there are no theaters commensurate with the population. Aamir Khan said, “When a movie is released in China, there is a business of thousands of crores of rupees due to the infrastructure there.”

Aamir Khan gave the example of ‘Dhurandhar’ movie, ‘Dhurandhar’ movie was released in 5,000 screens and earned more than 1,000 crores. If we had 15,000 screens available, imagine how much this movie’s earnings would have increased. Even today there are areas in villages and district centers where there is no cinema,’ said Aamir Khan.

Aamir Khan, who spoke further, emphasized the fact that only 2 percent of Indians watch big hit movies in theatres, and suggested that only if the number of theaters increases, the cinema industry can grow at the grassroots level and reach more people. Aamir Khan said that construction of theaters should be treated as infrastructure.

Aamir Khan’s opinion has been expressed for and against. Some say that Aamir Khan’s plan is brilliant, while others say that it is impossible. Some people said that there are not enough good movies being produced in India for 15 thousand theatres. A huge amount of money and space is needed to build a 15000 theater. After investing so much, one has to wait for years for profit.
