Big threat to jobs from AI

What is the news?

There has been a fear of a large-scale threat to jobs due to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for a long time. Now Mustafa Suleman, AI head of tech company Microsoft, has also given a serious warning about the impact of AI on jobs in the future. He said that in the coming time, there may be a big and rapid change in white-collar jobs i.e. computer based jobs.

Which jobs are most affected?

In an interview, Suleman said that people like lawyers, accountants, project managers and marketing professionals could be most affected. According to him, AI systems can automate the work of people who do routine, data entry and analysis based work sitting at a computer, quickly and accurately. He claimed that in the next 12 to 18 months many such tasks can be completely handled by machines.

Preparing for professional-grade AI

Suleman said that Microsoft is working rapidly on developing ‘professional-grade AGI’. He says that this will be such an advanced AI that will be able to understand and complete complex tasks like humans. With this, companies will be able to easily get the daily administrative and analytical work of their employees done with AI tools. He also said that in the future, creating AI models could be as simple and common as creating a blog or podcast.

Emphasis on self-reliant AI

Microsoft is now clearly planning to focus more on its own AI models and technology. Suleiman indicated that the company may introduce new and more capable models in the coming years, which will reduce its dependence on OpenAI. He said that in the next two to three years, AI agents may be able to handle complex workflows of large institutions, which can completely change the way work is done.
