What is the news?
A major accident took place in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday morning. There was a massive collision between a private travel bus and a truck, after which the bus caught fire. The accident occurred at 6:30 am near Raivaram in Markapuram, in which at least 10 people were burnt alive, while 20 people managed to escape from the bus. It is being told that people were trapped in the bus after the fire.
How did the accident happen?
Markapuram police said that the Harikrishna Travels bus was going from Hyderabad in Telangana to Vinjamuru in Andhra Pradesh when it collided with a truck laden with granite coming from Cheemakurthi. It is being told that the truck had just come out of the mine when the accident happened on the road. The reasons are not known yet, but one of the two vehicles is said to be traveling at high speed. On receiving information about the accident, police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot.
Identification of the dead difficult
Police said that due to the fire, many bodies were badly burnt, making their identification difficult. The injured have been admitted to local hospitals. Police say that most of the dead may be from Kanigiri area. At present, efforts are being made to identify everyone. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed grief over the incident and has given instructions to help the injured.
