New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Thursday that PM Modi will flag off the Guwahati to Kolkata Vande Bharat Sleeper train later this month. Ashwini Vaishnav said that this service can start in the next 15-20 days, i.e. around January 18-19. We have appealed to PM Modi for this. I will announce the exact date in the next 2-3 days. He also talked about the food available in Vande Bharat sleeper train. He told about Assamese and Bengali food.

Railway Minister’s statement on food menu

Ashwini Vaishnav said, ‘The Vande Bharat sleeper train that will come from Guwahati will have Assamese food and the train that will leave from Kolkata will have Bengali food.’

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Capacity

He further said that the passenger capacity of this sleeper train with 16 coaches is 823. Its design speed will be 180 kilometers per hour. However, at present this Vande Bharat will run at a speed of 120-130 km per hour between the two cities and will cover all the districts of Assam-West Bengal.

How much is the fare compared to air travel?

Describing this development as an important achievement for the country, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the ticket fare of Vande Bharat Sleeper train will be much lower than air travel. In Vande Bharat, the fare for third AC including food will be around Rs 2,300, for second AC will be around Rs 3,000 and for first AC will be around Rs 3,600. These fares have been fixed keeping the middle class in mind. Guwahati-Kolkata air travel fare is around Rs 6 to 8 thousand.

How much are third AC coaches in Vande Bharat?

The Railway Minister said that in this sleeper train of 16 coaches, there are 11 coaches of third AC, 4 coaches of second AC and one coach of first AC. Of the total 823 seats in the train, 611 are in third AC, 188 in second AC and 24 in first AC.
