Shimoga: in jail The officials of Shimoga Central Jail arrested two persons who tried to transport ganja on the pretext of meeting a prisoner and handed them over to the police.
Suspected by the behavior of the two who had come to meet an inmate of the Shimoga Central Jail, the staff conducted an inspection and found marijuana hidden in their pants.
Mohammed Akbar alias Kannappa (22) and Azgar Ali alias Ajju (21), residents of Madari Palya, have been arrested in connection with the case. On the information of the jail officials, the Tunganagar police reached the spot and took the accused into custody and confiscated the ganja.
Police are investigating whether there is any other network behind the smuggling of drugs into the jail. Currently, a case has been registered in Tunganagar police station and the accused are being produced in court. This operation of the officers has been appreciated.
