This is the era of social media. Everyone is busy making reels on social media. In such a situation, the Forest and Environment Department of Sikkim has issued an order on Friday. These orders are for forest and department employees. In the order, the government has banned making reels or posting personal content on social media during work.

As per the instructions issued by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF)-cum-Principal Secretary Pradeep Kumar, the employees are prohibited from creating or sharing content for social media while on duty. The order said the move is aimed at maintaining professional conduct and ensuring that official time remains fully dedicated to work.
Police have already been banned
However, the department has clarified that creation of digital content related to forestry, environment and wildlife awareness will be permitted provided it is created solely for official purposes. Earlier, Sikkim Police had also issued similar instructions prohibiting policemen in uniform from making reels.
Growing addiction to reels
In today’s era, smartphones are in every hand. People are desperate to make short reels of 15-30 seconds. Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and similar short-form videos have now become not just entertainment but a serious addiction. Experts are calling it the fastest spreading form of digital addiction.
