Bengaluru Metro fare has been increased by Rs 5. The increased prices will be applicable from February 9. Now the base fare of metro will be Rs 11. At the same time, the maximum fare will be Rs 95. The minimum fare has increased by one rupee and the maximum fare by five rupees. Bengaluru Metro gave this information through a press release. It was told by BMRCL that the fare of Bengaluru Metro has been increased after 7.5 years. Along with this, optimizing the zones from 29 to 10 has resulted in an average increase of 51.55%.

To avoid such situation of sporadic and steep hike in fares in future, the Committee in its report has recommended a transparent annual automatic fare revision formula linked to operation and management cost or annual revision of fares at the rate of 5% per annum, whichever is lower, rounded off to the nearest rupee. This system helps to initiate a small annual rent change.

Cost increased by more than 10 percent

The notification states that an annual automatic fare revision will be implemented from February 9, 2026. This marginal increase is of a minimum of Re 1 and a maximum of Re 5 in 10 fare zones on its entire network of 96.10 km. Comparing the audited financial data for financial years 2024-25 and 2023-24, the formula-based index shows that the cost has increased by 10.20%, but, as per FFC conditions, the change in fare has been limited to just 5%.
