The joint platform of 10 Central Trade Unions has called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Wednesday (July 9) against the central government’s corporate supporters and anti -labor policies. Unions hope that around 25 crore employees from formal and informal areas across the country will participate in it. Farmers and laborers of the agricultural sector are also expected to participate in a large scale protests. Let’s know what will open and remain closed during the bandh.
Will banks open during ‘Bharat Bandh’?
No formal information about the shutdown of banks has yet come due to ‘Bharat Bandh’. Banking unions have not confirmed whether their services will be interrupted or not.
Economic Times According to the unions calling for the bandh claim that financial services will also be affected by the strike, as it includes employees from both private and cooperative banking sectors. Services such as check clearance and customer service may also be affected in many areas.
What will be affected on schools, colleges and government offices?
Both school and college educational institutions are expected to be open during ‘Bharat Bandh’. The same applies to government offices. However, the shutdown is expected to affect a considerable impact on other transport system including public bus service and app-based cab. Protesters can disrupt public transport. In such a situation, coming from schools, colleges and offices can be troublesome. Similarly, there may be trouble in normal journey.
Hospital and emergency services will remain on
Hospital and emergency services have been kept away from ‘Bharat Bandh’. In such a situation, all hospitals and medical shops across the country will remain open. Similarly, ambulance services to provide emergency care and fire services to control the incidents of arson will also be smooth. Similarly, private shops and companies offices in the markets will be based on their discretion. Unions have not issued any warning or message regarding this.
Central Trade Union included ‘Bharat Bandh’
In this ‘Bharat Bandh’, National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), All India Joint Trade Union Center (AIUTUT), All India Trade Union Council (AICCTU), Indian Trade Union Center (CUTU), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), Labor Progressive Federation (LPF), Labor Progressive Federation (LPF), Welfare Women’s Association Center (TUCC) and United Trade Union Congress (UTC). Similarly, the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the United Front of Agricultural Labor Unions have also supported this bandh.
Employees are against government policies
Last year, trade unions handed over a charter of 17 demands to Labor Minister Mansukh Mandavia, whose demands have been ignored by the government. The union said in a joint statement that the government’s labor reforms include 4 new labor codes, which have been created to eliminate the rights of workers, aimed at eliminating labor bargains, weakening the union, extending work hours and preventing employers from accountability under labor laws.
