Chennai: Kidnapped the girl returning from school and sexually harassed, Annamalai raised questions

Tamil Nadu: A 10 -year -old girl returning home from school in Gumdipundi area near Chennai was abducted and sexually assaulted by an unknown person. The incident came to light on Thursday, after which the police started searching for the accused.

According to the police, this heartbreaking incident occurred on Monday when the girl was returning home from school. The age of the accused is said to be between 20 and 25 years old. The accused chased the girl on the village road, pressed her mouth and dragged her into bushes.

Come home and told grandmother

The victim somehow managed to escape the clutches of the accused and returned home and informed her grandmother, who lodged a police complaint at the nearest police station. The girl was immediately admitted to Pononi Government Hospital and was later shifted to a government hospital in Chennai for better treatment.

On the complaint of the girl’s family, the police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Annamalai demands arrest

After a video of this incident went viral on social media, former president of BJP’s state unit K.K. Annamalai expressed deep grief over this. He said in a post on X, “It is very sad that the culprit has not been arrested even five days after the crime.”

Annamalai expressed concern over the openly roam of such criminals in the society, saying, “The fact that such criminals who commit sexual offenses and are roaming openly shows how dangerous the society is.” He further said that he can commit more crime due to delay in arrest of the culprit. The BJP leader has urged the police that “immediate steps should be taken to arrest this criminal without any delay”. (With language input)
