China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has made a special appeal to India amid the tension in the Middle East.

Amidst the tension in the Middle East after Israel and America jointly attacked Iran, China has given a big statement on the improving relations between India and China. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said India and China should see each other as partners rather than rivals and as opportunities rather than threats. He made this statement in a press conference during the session of the 14th National People’s Congress held in Beijing.

What statement did Wang give?

Wang Yi said in response to a question from an Indian journalist, “China and India are important neighbors and both are parts of the Global South, with deep cultural ties and broad shared interests. Mutual trust and cooperation between China and India is very beneficial to shared development. Similarly, division and confrontation are not good for the revival of Asia.” He clarified that relations between the two countries have now returned to normal track.

What did Wang say about trade with India?

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping met in Tianjin in August last year. The subsequent meeting in Kazan has warmed India-China relations. The consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries is being implemented at the ground level,” Wang said. “Dialogue has increased at various levels and bilateral trade has reached a new all-time high. This has also benefited the people of both the countries,” he said.
