After the death of Ram Vilas Paswan, there was a war between Chirag and Pashupati Paras over succession in his party LJP.

In July 2021, 5 MPs of LJP wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker and refused to consider Chirag as their leader and elected Pashupati Paras as their leader.

After this, the party was divided into 2 factions. Chirag Dhada was called LJP Ram Vilas and Pashupati Paras Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party.
