Congress gave a shock to its MPs in Kerala, did not give any MP in the elections

By releasing the second and final list of 37 candidates for the Kerala elections, Congress made it clear that no MP will be given ticket in these elections. Amidst the uproar over seat distribution and the demands of the MPs, Congress has released the list of 37 candidates on Thursday. No member of the Lok Sabha has got the ticket.

Which MPs were asking for tickets?

The party will contest 92 seats out of 140 members of the Kerala Assembly, while in three constituencies it will support rebel leaders who have rebelled against the CPM. The party has already released the list of 55 members. Congress MP K Sudhakaran, who was seeking ticket from Kannur seat, has fielded T O Mohanan, while MP Adoor Prakash, who was seeking ticket from Konni, also got disappointed, where the party has given place to Professor Satish Kochcharambil.

Candidates were not announced for these seats

The Congress party has not announced candidates in Ambalapuzha, Taliparambu, Payyanur and Ottapalam, where rebel CPM leaders G Sudhakaran, TK Govindan, V Kunhikrishnan and PK Sasi are in the fray. The Congress has retained most of its sitting MLAs except in Thripunithara and Perumbavoor. In Perumbavoor, sitting MLA Eldose Kunnapilli has been denied the ticket due to poor performance, replacing him with Manoj Moothedan.

Ticket to former BJP leader also

In Tripunithra, Deepak Jai has been given the ticket in place of K Babu, who had decided to withdraw from the election. Saji Joseph, who had threatened to contest as an independent candidate from Kuttanad, has been given the ticket from Poonjar. Youth Congress leader Abin Vargi will contest from Aranmula against BJP’s Kummanam Rajasekharan. Whereas from Nemam, the party has fielded its young face against BJP state president Rajiv Chandrashekhar and former MLA from Aruvikkara, KS Sabrinathan. Former BJP leader Sandeep Warrier, who joined Congress, has also been given ticket from Trikaripur in Kasaragod.
