Congress shines in Telangana, shock to BRS, big victory of BJP in Karimnagar and Nizamabad

Telangana Local Body Election Results: Two years after returning to the government, the Congress on Friday strengthened its hold in the urban body elections in Telangana. Counting of votes for the elections held on February 11 took place on February 13 with the Congress on track to win at least 83 of the 116 municipalities and five of the seven municipal corporations. The Congress won majority in Mancharial, Ramagundam and Nalgonda municipal corporations by Friday evening and came close to wresting Mahabubnagar from BRS with 29 seats in the 60-member assembly.

At the same time, BJP surprised everyone by becoming the largest party in Karimnagar and Nizamabad Municipal Corporations and left BRS empty handed.
