New Delhi: A big decision has been taken regarding the safety of delivery boys i.e. gig workers and the time limit for delivery of goods within 10 minutes for gig workers has been banned. After the intervention of Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, major commerce companies have decided to end the deadline.

What is the whole matter?

According to news agency ANI, sources said on Tuesday that after the continuous intervention of Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, major delivery aggregators have made up their mind to remove the mandatory delivery deadline of 10 minutes. A meeting was held with major platforms like Blinkit, Zepto, Zomato and Swiggy to address concerns related to delivery timelines.

Blinkit removes 10 minute delivery promise

News agency ANI quoted sources as saying, Blinkit has removed the promise of 10 minute delivery from its branding. In such a situation, it is expected that other aggregators will also do the same soon. This step of the companies will ensure the safety of the gig workers because in order to make quick deliveries, the gig workers were risking their lives and due to this, other drivers on the road were also in danger.

It is noteworthy that for some time, there was a large scale discussion going on in the country regarding the safety of gig workers. This issue was also raised in Parliament. In the Parliament session, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha also raised the issue of safety of gig workers and demanded respect, security and right salary for them.

Let us tell you that for the first time, the definition of ‘Gig Workers’ and ‘Platform Workers’ and the provisions related to them have been given in the Social Security Code, 2020, which came into force on November 21, 2025.
