Expressing support on the issue of Tibet, MPs of all political parties of the country have written a letter to the Central Government and demanded Bharat Ratna to the Dalai Lama. The MPs have also urged the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual head and 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso to allow the joint session in Parliament. This letter has been written by All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum on Tibet.

Proposal has passed in the meeting
The Parliamentary Forum passed a resolution for this during his second meeting this month and sent a request to the government. The forum consists of MPs of several parties including BJP, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Janata Dal United (JDU). The current convenor of the forum is BJP MP Bhartrihari Mahatab. However, Rajya Sabha MP and former convenor Sujit Kumar is playing a major role in the demand. MPs have also launched a signature campaign to give Bharat Ratna to the Dalai Lama.

Economic Times According to, Sujit Kumar said that 80 MPs have just signed the signature campaign to give Bharat Ratna to the Dalai Lama and some have also sent video messages supporting the campaign. He said, “We will write to the President of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to call a joint meeting, which will be addressed by Param Holiness.” He informed that it will be assigned to the President and the Prime Minister on the completion of the signature of 100 MPs.

Forum MPs opposed China in successor case
In December 2021, the forum was established under the leadership of Sujit Kumar. Then Sujit was in the BJD, now he is in BJP. Forum MPs have met representatives of the Tibetan government several times. The forum says that China should have no role in choosing the Dalai Lama’s successor. He argued that the people of Tibet have the right to decide about the successor of the 14th Dalai Lama.
