New Delhi: The opposition has prepared to take two big steps in the budget session of Parliament. According to reports, on Tuesday Congress MPs will move a proposal to bring a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. At the same time, there is a plan to give notice for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar this week. The opposition has united and opened a front on both the issues. Let us inform that 118 opposition MPs have signed the no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Opposition members allege that the Speaker, adopting a partisan attitude, did not allow Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to speak in the House.

Rijiju can start discussion on the proposal

Congress MPs will present a proposal in this regard in the House today, but for this permission of the House (Leave of the House) will have to be taken. According to sources, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will start discussion on the motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Anurag Thakur, Nishikant Dubey, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Bhartrihari Mahtab will present their views from BJP. At the same time, Chirag Paswan of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will also address the House. From the Congress side, Gaurav Gogoi, Manish Tiwari, Deepender Singh Hooda and Jothimani will argue against the Speaker.

Opposition will give notice to remove CEC

At the same time, for the first time the opposition is going to give notice for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Sources said that the draft of the notice is ready and it will be submitted this week. A senior Trinamool Congress MP said it was ‘100 per cent teamwork’. He said, ‘Preparing and planning the draft is a joint work of parties of all ideologies. Implementing this in both the houses will also be complete team work. He has completely degraded the dignity of the great position held by the Chief Election Commissioner. Congress sources said that they will fully support this notice.

All parties of opposition alliance are included

It is being said that all the parties of INDIA alliance are involved in this. The notice has been prepared collectively and now signatures of MPs from both the Houses are being collected. According to the rules, signatures of at least 100 MPs from Lok Sabha and at least 50 MPs from Rajya Sabha are required. The process of removing the CEC is similar to that of a Supreme Court or High Court judge, and is possible only on the grounds of ‘proven misbehavior’ or ‘incompetence’. The proposal to remove the CEC can be brought in any House and to pass it requires a majority of the total members of the House and two-thirds majority of those present and voting.

Mamata Banerjee’s protest against SIR

According to law, the Chief Election Commissioner can be removed only like a Supreme Court judge. West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee had recently said in a press conference in Delhi that if the opposition brings impeachment against the CEC, she would support it. Mamata Banerjee is currently staging an indefinite protest in the state against the deletion of names during Special Intensive Review i.e. SIR. In the current session, the united stand of the opposition on both the issues is increasing the heat in the Parliament. It remains to be seen what happens on these proposals in the remaining days of the session.
