Divyang Shakti scheme: In Andhra Pradesh, the government led by CM Chandrababu Naidu has launched the Divyang Shakti Yojana, fulfilling its promise made in the budget in record time. This is a big step taken by the state government after the success of free bus travel for women. Under this scheme, disabled people will be able to travel free in buses. This will provide a lot of relief to the disabled people.

On the occasion of the launch of this scheme, CM Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh traveled in a bus from Mangalagiri to Penumaka with the beneficiaries. During this, these leaders interacted directly with the disabled people and understood their difficulties, challenges and problems and also took feedback on the welfare schemes implemented by the government. These leaders reiterated their commitment to remove barriers and ensure dignity, freedom and equal opportunity for all.

Rs 207 crore will be spent annually

After the end of the yatra, Chief Minister Chandrababu Nadu organized a special lunch for the beneficiaries, which was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh. The Government has committed an annual expenditure of Rs 207 crore for the effective implementation of Divyang Shakti Yojana, reflecting its strong emphasis on social justice and inclusive growth.

What is Divyang Shakti Yojana?

Actually, Divyang Shakti Yojana is a transformative welfare initiative under which free bus travel facility will be provided in various services of APSRTC. These services include City Ordinary, Metro Express, Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu and Express buses. The scheme will be applicable to persons with more than 40% disability in 21 categories. About 12.76 lakh people are expected to benefit from this, including their assistants. By improving access to transportation, the scheme will significantly expand opportunities for education, healthcare, employment and social participation.
