Dehradun: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, significant steps are being taken continuously towards mining reforms in Uttarakhand. On the basis of transparency, technology and strict monitoring, the state has achieved record achievements in the mining sector in the last four years. The result of this is that in the latest report released by the Central Government, Uttarakhand has achieved remarkable performance in minor mineral improvement and has secured second place in the country, on the basis of which an incentive amount of ₹ 100 crore will be provided to Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand ranks second in the country in minor mineral improvement

Earlier, in the State Mining Readiness Index (SMRI) prepared by the Central Government, Uttarakhand has performed brilliantly and secured second position in Category-C. On the basis of this achievement also, Uttarakhand will get an incentive amount of ₹ 100 crore from the Central Government. Thus, due to excellent performance in both the categories, the state will receive a total incentive assistance of ₹ 200 crore, which is being considered a major achievement of the reforms and tough decisions of the Dhami government in the mining sector.

Chief Minister Dhami took many big steps

Along with assuming the responsibility of Chief Servant, Chief Minister Dhami took many important steps for transparency and sensitive administration in the mining sector. The process of allotment of mining lots in the state was made completely transparent, illegal mining was effectively banned, and a modern Mining Surveillance System was developed for mining transportation. Tracking and inspection of mining activities strengthened through digital monitoring. As a direct result of these reform efforts, Uttarakhand has recorded historic growth in mining revenues in the last four years.

Other states are also adopting mining model of Dhami government

The review report of the Central Government clearly acknowledges that Uttarakhand is continuously improving the mining sector and implementing policy changes effectively. Keeping this performance in mind, the Finance Ministry has released an additional incentive of ₹100 crore to the state for minor mineral improvement. Among the states included in the order issued, Uttarakhand’s performance has been recorded as the best among the states Nagaland, Jammu-Kashmir and Uttarakhand. According to the ministry, mining reforms in these states have been systematic, strengthened and made more effective, but the speed and transparency with which Uttarakhand implemented the reforms has become an example for other states as well.

With this achievement it has become clear that the mining sector of Uttarakhand is proving to be a main source of revenue for the state government. Due to increasing transparency, better policy making and timely reforms, Uttarakhand is now creating a strong and credible identity in the mining landscape of the country. States like Uttar Pradesh, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir etc. are also following the mining policies of Uttarakhand. With these achievements, Uttarakhand has established a new identity in the mining sector and has made it clear that with transparency, technological innovation and strong leadership, the state has the potential to set new records at the national level.
