The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, the founder of the controversial Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency was interrogating Siddiqui and searching his residence. After this he was arrested. According to reports, the investigation has revealed financial irregularities in several firms linked to Siddiqui.
Action taken after allegations of false claims
According to reports, the ED investigation began following two FIRs lodged by the Delhi Police Crime Branch alleging that the university made fake claims of NAAC affiliation to mislead students and stakeholders for ill-gotten gains. The FIR also alleges that the university falsely claimed recognition under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, even though it is incorporated as a state private university only under Section 2(F).
Evidence of misuse of trust funds and money found
The investigation found evidence that funds received from the trust were transferred to family-owned entities. Construction and catering contracts were reportedly awarded to firms linked to Siddiqui’s wife and children. ED has seized Rs 48 lakh in cash, digital devices and several documents. The ED is investigating whether money laundering was used to provide funds to persons involved in the Red Fort blast.

Javed Al-Falah is the founder of the university. He is also a director of more than 10 companies under the Al-Falah Group. He was born on November 15, 1964 in Madhya Pradesh and spent his early life in Mhow (Dr. Ambedkar Nagar). Javed had started a chit fund company in Mhow years ago. In this, people were deceived into doubling their money. He was in jail for 3 years in an investment scam.

Know about the university
Al-Falah University is built on about 76 acres in Dhauj village of Faridabad. It was started in 1997 as an engineering college. Javed had started it. The university also has 3 educational institutions and a 650-bed hospital on the campus. The current Registrar of the university is Professor Mohammad Parvez and Dr. Bhupinder Kaur Anand is its Vice-Chancellor.
University in limelight after red explosion
This university has been in the headlines since the car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. About 2,900 kg of explosives were found in the rooms rented by Dr. Muzammil, who was associated with the university. Another doctor, Dr Shaheen, was arrested after weapons were found in his car. Hours after his arrest, a car blast took place near the Red Fort. Doctor Omar Nabi, the terrorist sitting in the car, also worked in Al-Falah.
