In the second Test of the series released in Edgbaston against England cricket team, the Indian cricket team has scored 587 losing all wickets in their first innings. Captain Shubman Gill from India scored a historic double century (269). He played a marathon innings while batting firmly against the host bowlers. Gill has now become the third batsman of India to score a double century in England. Before him, Sunil Gavaskar (221 runs, 1979) and Rahul Dravid (202 runs, 2002) have done so. Gill became the first Indian captain to score a double century in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). The 25 -year -old Gill became the second youngest Indian captain to score a double century in the Test. Further in this list is MAK Pataudi (in 23 years).
