Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Sunday. Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the ‘poor’ category on Saturday, with the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) at 267.
Snowfall in hilly states
It is extremely cold in the hilly states. Snowfall is occurring in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. A large number of tourists are enjoying the snowfall. The local meteorological department has issued an alert of more snowfall.

Minimum temperature reached 8.1 degrees Celsius
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 17.3 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was 8.1 degrees Celsius, which is 1.2 degrees above this season’s average.
Palam area of Delhi was the coldest
Station-wise data of maximum temperatures showed that Palam recorded 15.8 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road 17.6 degrees Celsius, Ridge 16.3 degrees Celsius and Ayanagar 17.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.1 degrees Celsius in Safdarjung, 7.9 degrees Celsius in Palam, 8 degrees Celsius in Lodhi Road, 9 degrees Celsius in Ridge, while the minimum temperature in Ayanagar was 6.9 degrees Celsius.
Delhi’s air in ‘bad’ category
According to IMD, due to dense fog, visibility in Safdarjung dropped to 800 meters at around 9 am, which later increased to 1,200 meters. Meanwhile, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 267, which falls in the ‘poor’ category. The AQI was in the ‘poor’ category at 14 monitoring centers in the capital, ‘very poor’ at 17 and ‘moderate’ at six. Jahangirpuri recorded the worst with AQI 340.
